Q 1: Why are you named REDLINE? What's it mean anyway?

A: REDLINE refers to the moment when an engine is developing maximum horsepower. It's usually when drag racers shift gears to maintain maximum acceleration. Shift too soon and you waste power and lose the race. Shift too late and the engine blows up! In athletics REDLINE has become a metaphor for competitors putting forth maximum effort. The delicate balance of running on the ragged edge and not blowing up.

Q 2: When will I get my photos?

A: Photos usually ship within 3 to 4 weeks of our receiving your order. Unless we have an unusually large number of orders. Also, if you mail your check to the Colorado address this can add as much as 2 weeks to the delivery time of your photos.

Q: Colorado? But you're here!

A: Yes, but the e-commerce site we use to display the photos is located in Colorado. If you mail your check to the Colorado address they don't post your order till they get your check which just adds time to filling your photo order.

Q 3: What about these barn shoots? How's that work?

A: We offer barn shoots for those that do not compete but still would like photos of their animals (horses, dogs, emu, whatever) and themselves. These photo sessions have proven to be quite popular and we look forward to doing more of them. Did you know? The person who contacts us to come to their barn will get free photos!! Please contact us for more info.

Q 4: Do you sell photos on CD or by e-mail?

A: We offer unedited photos on CD at the Events, but only at the Events. These images are just as they come out of the camera with no adjustments. We only sell them at the Event because we want to be sure you understand just what you are purchasing. For several reasons, we do not e-mail photos under any circumstances.

Q 5: After I get my photo can I make copies of it, use it in an advertisement or on my website?

A: You may use one of our photos in an advertisement or on a website. But, YOU MUST HAVE WRITTEN PERMISSION from us. If you'd like to use one of our photos for these purposes please contact us for terms of use and conditions. Under no condition may any of our photos be copied. This is illegal and we will prosecute those who do violate the above. Of course if you purchase an image on CD you may make as many prints as you like. But you still must have permission to post them on the web or use them in advertising. For additional information, please see our Image Use Policy elsewhere on this site.

Q: Illegal? But I bought the photo!

A: That's right. But, the images we produce are copyright protected and REDLINE retains the rights to those images. There are a couple reasons for this. Suppose someone purchased a photo of you falling off your horse and decided to post that photo on a website to embarrass or ridicule you. By retaining the copyright we are able to determine who uses our photos and how our photos are used. This means we have the legal power to prevent or stop inappropriate use of our photos. The law also protects us from someone making poor copies of our hard work and blaming us for the bad quality. So if you'd like additional copies of your original photo please feel free to order them. If you want to use one of our photos for other purposes please contact us first.

Q 6: What if my photos arrive damaged?

A: Very rarely photos are damaged in shipping. If your photos arrive damaged, or need to be replaced for any reason, please contact us immediately. You must return the portion of the photo with the copyright info to REDLINE to get replacement photos. That means the sticker with the image number and that part of the photo. We will not honor damage claims more than 14 days past the postmark on the photo envelope. Replacement photos will be limited to only the photos in the original order. There will be no exceptions to these terms.

Q 7: Suppose I order the wrong photo?

A: REDLINE is not responsible for orders that are made incorrectly. Each photo we produce, is individually edited and sent to the photo lab we use, making it a one of a kind work of art. As a result, our photos are not a typical retail product that can be placed back on the shelf and sold to the next customer. Since the venues do not usually provide us with any rider/driver info. It is the customers responsibility to order the correct photo, so please order carefully. No refunds will be given for incorrect orders.

Q 8: What is cropping?

A: Simply put, Cropping means to tighten up the shot so attention is drawn to the subject of the photograph. Think of it as trimming off the edges of the photo. If something is directly behind, or next to the subject it usually cannot be cropped out of the picture.

Q 9: Do you crop or zoom in the picture?

A: Each photo you purchase is individually edited by us. This includes adjusting light levels, balancing colors and cropping to highlight the subject of the photo while leaving an adequate border for framing. We also have a little magic we can use to make sure the photos you receive are the best we can provide. Also, the photos we send you are "real" lab photographs, not computer inkjet prints. This means if cared for properly they should last several generations.

Q 10: What if there is something I want removed from, or added to the photo?

A: If the object to be removed is directly behind, or near the subject of the photo, there are techniques we can use to remove the object. This however, is considered custom editing and is performed on a prepaid, hourly basis. In the event you want something removed from or added to a photo, you must contact us to discuss the request prior to placing your order. We will not make changes to images without those changes being discussed before your order is placed. We do this to be sure we understand exactly what changes you wish to have made. As stated above, additional charges will apply for this service. This includes the addition of text.

Q 11: When will the photos from my event be posted?

A: Photos from each event are usually posted by the next day. Sometimes we get a little swamped and it may take an extra day. So please be patient.

Q 12: Do you ever do private photo sessions?

A: Yes we do. Please contact us for pricing information and availability.
